Retaining rings are either round or rectangular wire that is wound into a circular shape. They can be made from carbon, stainless, or any of the “red” metals. While retaining rings are relatively simple in appearance the wide range of applications with unique requirements means manufacturing these rings anything but simple. Hardware Products has mastered the technique.
The most common use of retaining rings is in holding a coaxial wire to a connector, in connecting the cable wire to a TV set or VCR. The retaining ring fits over the coaxial wire and snaps the connector into place, so that it cannot loosen or fall off.
Additionally, retaining rings are used in a wide variety of applications from jump rope handles and engine components, to tank tread links and escalator assemblies.
